    First Time, First Year Applicants

    How to Apply

    Complete an application form via one of the following methods:

    • Apply online through the Hartwick app by selecting “Create an Account” above. Tip: Use your personal, non-school email when creating your account.
    • Apply online through Common App at www.commonapp.org.

    Submit your transcript:

    • Submit your high school transcript with dates of graduation. Unofficial copies are acceptable for review.
    • Note: We will require and verify your official transcript prior to your enrollment.

    Additional requirements/suggestions for select majors:

    • Art: While a portfolio is not required for admission, it is highly recommended. Get more details.
    • Music: Students planning on majoring in music are required to audition. Schedule an audition.
    • Nursing: SAT/ACT scores are optional for all applicants but highly recommended for those applying to our nursing program.

    Application Deadlines

    • Early Action 1 (non-binding): Apply by November 15.
    • Early Action 2 (non-binding): Apply by January 15.
    • Rolling Admission: We review all applications on a rolling basis with admissions decisions going out within 1 week of receiving all application materials.

    Transfer Applicants

    Submit your transcript(s):

    • Submit your previous college transcript(s). Unofficial copies are acceptable for review.
    • If you have fewer than 24 credit hours earned, also submit your final high school transcript.
    • Note: We will require and verify your official transcript(s) prior to your enrollment.

    Additional requirements/suggestions for select majors:

    Credit transfer

    • We may accept up to 90 credits from your previous institutions.
    • For credits to be considered acceptable, you must have received an equivalent grade of a “C” or better.
    • Credit evaluations are provided following an official acceptance to Hartwick College.

    Submit Your Academic Credentials

    Please submit the following required documents to transcripts@hartwick.edu:

    • Official secondary academic records and any examination results
    • Proof of English Language Proficiency in the form of official test scores or documentation. We accept:
      • TOEFL: 80+ (if paper-based, 500)
      • IELTS: 6.0+
      • PTE: 50+
      • DET: 100+
      • SAT: 400 on Reading/Writing
      • Letter from school stating the method of instruction (MOI) is English
      • Attend school in a primary-language-English country
      • Three years of study in a United States high school
